And so this is Christmas.......and what have you done?
This is my favorite Christmas song by John Lennon. Other artists sing it as well.
I have come to see how it is not what I've done as much as How I've done it. I feel How I live my daily life in a place of acceptance and wonder seem to serve me more than focusing only on what I've done.
For example, my sweet son of eleven years old has two pet rats. We've had ten pet rats over the last six years. They are so loving, fun, sensitive and very smart. We have learned to love them and are sad when their short lives of only about four years come to an end.
This morning I am cleaning their very large cage for the hundredth time and I am actually enjoying the process. Trust me when I say I've cursed my way through this two hour process in the past. I am learning to enjoy whatever it is I am engaging in or I don't even spend the time on it. It is how I engage in life that thrills me.
And so this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over and a new one just begun.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Let's hope it's a good one without any tears.
Bless you John Lennon! And Bless How You Live Your Life!

Changing Your Beliefs?
What is the moving force behind your personality, behavior and the way you interpret and react to your experiences? Beliefs. They govern how you behave, feel and ultimately live your life. If you’re familiar with the self-help world, you probably have heard a lot of talk about ‘beliefs’ as being these powerful forces in your life. But what are they really?
The term ‘belief’ is a commonly used word but it doesn’t mean the actual concept is as simple. There are many uses of the term belief, each one describing very different ideas. The truth is ‘belief’ is a piece of terminology to describe a much bigger idea.
Most people think of beliefs as their conscious beliefs such as a belief in a god, a belief that murder is wrong, or a belief that people are generally good. These conscious beliefs are only a small part of the story and they are the easiest part to understand and interpret. If I had to make a prediction I would say that less than 10% of your beliefs are conscious beliefs. The rest are in the subconscious.
What is a subconscious belief? Well first of all you probably don’t refer to them as beliefs. Chances are likely that you aren’t even aware of them or their influence. These beliefs are the small pieces of subconscious wiring inside that brain of yours that dictate a huge portion of your behavior and how you see the world as you do.
For example, you may have a subconscious belief that when someone smiles at you it means they like you. This often isn’t consciously registered but when you see someone smiling at you, you simply feel “liked.” There is no immediate conscious thought process about their smile but there is a feeling; in this case it is positive. For sake of clarity, I’m picking an extremely obvious example of a subconscious belief. Most of your subconscious beliefs are buried so deep into your psyche that you don’t even realize they are there affecting your behaviour and your health.
Beliefs are created from your childhood experiences. Imagine you came into this world as your spiritual self, in your full sense of purity and innocence. As the human experience begins to naturally unfold, you start interacting with your family, friends and neighbors. You hear them calling you various names, both positive and negative. Those closest to you may have called you stupid or smart, too sensitive or too thick-skinned, dishonest or honest, stubborn or easy-going, etc. These words are only their opinions of who you are and they are not based on the truth because they have been judged and shamed themselves. It's all they know what to say from their own life experiences.
As a child, you begin to live your life hearing these judgments over and over until you feel these words must be the truth of who you are. Voila .... a belief is born! It is the positive or negative feeling you have when you hear these words over and over that make them your beliefs. You then see the evidence of this belief when it is being reinforced by your newly created world around you! Keep this in mind; your beliefs create every situation around you in your life!
A better metaphor for what I am describing is to think of all your beliefs as little wires inside your brain. Some of this wiring is fundamental and you have little awareness of it and even less control over it. Other beliefs range in complexity and awareness from subtle motivators to the beliefs that you recognize. But beliefs are not thoughts. They come from deep, longstanding feelings.
Understanding that most of your beliefs lie outside of your awareness is important to being able to connect with them. Some of these unseen beliefs are positive and add to the success you feel in life while others are negative and add to your failures in life. Of course, you prefer to keep the positive ones but what about the negative beliefs? A new belief cannot be installed unless the current one is uncovered. This leads to an important point; uncovering a belief allows you to change it.
Although certain deeply rooted beliefs can be more difficult to change, the necessary step still lies in finding the beliefs you already have. Belief changing is mostly about truly recognizing the belief so you can see it clearly in order to change it. When a belief becomes conscious it is possible to change it.
Interestingly, until limiting beliefs are shifted, any attempts to change your life’s problems will be blocked by these beliefs. It’s like trying to walking into a room with a closed door; it’s not going to happen. The wonderful thing about going after beliefs rather than your problems is that once beliefs are transformed, your inner resources are freed up and possible solutions are often revealed on their own.
So how do you find your Subconscious Beliefs? You must go into your subconscious where the belief resides! You can’t do it by thinking about it however. You have to find the primary feeling that created your belief. I have developed a very gentle way to guide you within to your subconscious where your beliefs reside. We can change them together; we can Re-frame the old belief. We will let the new belief be felt over and over again until it becomes present in your life. Having worked with hundreds of clients from around the world, every session is completely individualized and perfect for their own growth and understanding. Watch your world change to match your shift. It’s nothing short of Magical!
